Classes

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation for all forms of dance. as many other dance genres are based on ballet. Ballet is based on techniques that have been developed over centuries. Ballet uses music and dance to tell stories.

Jazz

A stylized theatrical genre of dance based on many other forms of dance and influenced by American jazz music. Jazz dance is constantly changing as new innovations in style, technique, and choreography emerge.
 

Acrobatics

Is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. Consist of elements like: cartwheels, handstands, handsprings, chin and chest stands, backbends, splits, extensions, back and front handsprings, aerials, etc.
 

Tap

Type of dance which demonstrates various rhythms made by movements of the feet. Metal taps are attached to the shoes to emphasize the sounds.

Pointe

Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet.

Lyrical

Lyrical dancing is a form of dance coming from a fusion of jazz dance and ballet.

 

Class Levels

 

  • Tiny (Preschool Age)

  • Mini (Kindergarden/1st Grade)

  • Demi (2nd Grade)

  • Preteen (Beginner/Intermediate 3rd-5th Grade)

  • Teen 1 (Beginner/Intermediate 7th-Above)

  • Junior (Intermediate/Advanced 3rd-6th)

  • Teen 2 (Intermediate 7th-Above)

  • Senior Petite (Advanced 6th Grade & Under)

  • Senior (Intermediate/Advanced 7th-Above)

  • Senior Elite (Advanced 7th-Above)

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is a class that teaches students how to build a character and create it within the world of the dance. They will also learn styles by famous musical theatre choreographers including Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, Susan Stroman, and more.

Hip-Hop

Dancers will condition their bodies to perform in this upbeat genre. This form gives our students the opportunity to express themselves through freestyle using inspirations of street, break dancing, music videos, and funk. Advanced classes will explore the world of improv, a rising genre in the industry. This class grabs from many genres and teachers suggest this class for students who want to add more to their repertoire.

Baton

Incorporates the three specialisms of twirling, dance and gymnastics. Twirlers are expected to master the three modes of twirling (aerials, rolls, and contact).

 

Competition

This new class is for experienced dancers who want to take their recreational dance career to a new level. Betsy's Dance Center is giving their dancers the opportunity to compete in solo, duo, and groups at nearby competitions. *Note: Dancers must be signed up for a private to have the opportunity to compete a solo.

Boys

We offer classes to boys in Acro, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. This variety of genres is the perfect combination for a young man to begin his journey through dance.
